Why I’m Stepping On Stage This Summer
One of the most common questions I get lately is: “What made you interested in bodybuilding?” Right behind that is: “Wait… are you trying to get huge muscles?” 😆 Listen in to my YouTube short where I explain! The answer might surprise you: I’ve been fascinated by women’s bodybuilding since college, where I studied Kinesiology. I later went on to earn my Master’s in Exercise Physiology. For decades I’ve been in awe of what the human body can do — how muscles grow, move, and change in response to training. This year, I’m finally stepping on stage to compete — not in the extreme “bodybuilding” category most people imagine, but in a new division called Fit Model. Fit Model (just added in 2025!) focuses on symmetry, balance, poise, and a toned, athletic physique. It’s the perfect fit for my training style, lifestyle, and personal goals. There are actually six official divisions in women’s bodybuilding, each with different expectations for muscularity and presentation: ➡️ Bodybuilding – Max muscle, extreme development ➡️ Physique – Very muscular, powerful posing ➡️ Figure – Defined, lean, hourglass shape ➡️ Wellness – Fuller lower body, strong curves ➡️ Bikini – Lean, balanced shape, smaller muscles ➡️ Fit Model – Elegant, athletic, and balanced I’m currently competing at the amateur level in the NPC federation. For the past two years I’ve been working with a fantastic coach (@lexiemait) originally prepping for Bikini. But when Fit Model was introduced, I made the switch — and I’m loving it!
